Human Rights Now has launched the Winter 2019 Book Club! This edition will be based on the book by Melinda Gates, The Moment of Lift, dealing with the most pressing issues on women empowerment.

“Spend your own money. Go to school. Earn an income. Access contraceptives. Work outside the home. Walk outside the home. Choose whom to marry. Get a loan. Start a business. Own property. Divorce a husband. See a doctor. Drive a car.
All of these rights are denied to women in some parts of the world.”

• An ideal starting point for discussion around human rights, feminism, and the empowerment of women and girls in the face of human rights hardships.
• The book focuses on developing countries, but we will expand the discussion to Japan and other developed countries.
• Great opportunity for you to practice and/or improve your English skills
Share your thoughts and learn from others in an informal and relaxed atmosphere
Meet new people and create new bonds thanks to the interactive environment that we will create together
Please have a look at the detailed schedule and read each session’s chapter in for an exciting, lively and fruitful discussion. Come with questions, ideas, doubts and critiques, or even just with the curiosity to listen to others’ opinions!
